Osteopathic treatment, also known as Osteopathic Manipulation or Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), is a form of manual medicine that is practiced by Osteopathic Physicians (DOs).

It focuses on diagnosing and treating a wide range of health conditions by using hands-on techniques to manipulate and restore the body’s musculoskeletal system, as well as improve overall physiological function..

Cranial Therapy

Osteopathic Cranial Manipulation (OCM), also known as Cranial Osteopathy or Craniosacral Therapy, is a specialized technique within Osteopathic medicine. It involves gentle, hands-on manipulation of the skull, spine, and other areas of the body to promote the body’s self-healing mechanisms and optimize physiological function.

Practitioners believe that the cranial bones, along with the cerebrospinal fluid and the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, have a subtle rhythmic motion that reflects the overall health of the body. By applying very subtle and light touch, Osteopathic Cranial Manipulation aims to restore balance and correct any restrictions or imbalances within these structures, which may contribute to various health issues

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is a healthcare profession that focuses on helping individuals regain and improve their physical function, mobility, and overall well-being..

Physical Therapists in Ireland assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. They use a variety of techniques such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, electrotherapy, and education to address pain, injuries, and disabilities. Physical Therapy plays a crucial role in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and promoting optimal physical health for people of all ages.

Dry Needling is a procedure in which thin filament sterile acupuncture needles are inserted in a specific target soft tissue directly at a myofascial trigger point in order to improve or restore function and/or control pain.

Dry Needling is usually performed in conjunction with Physical Therapy techniques when appropriate to gain an optimal response. Most people don’t feel the insertion of the needle. The local twitch response may cause a brief sensation described as a quick pinch. It is important to remember that the therapeutic effect only occurs by eliciting the twitch response, and therefore, it is the desirable reaction.
